Latham’s “生活 Healthy with 浆” Cookbook Supplement is hot off the press!

Written for the community of parents 和 caregivers of those with Prader-Willi syndrome (浆), the cookbook is a complete resource for planning nutritious, delicious meals for individuals with 浆, 和 it includes tips 和 advice from experts in the field. The menu consists of a Mediterranean based diet – low in carbohydrates 和 dairy, 富含omega-3脂肪酸.

In the months following the publication of our 生活Healthy with 浆 cookbook, we learned a few key concepts that helped to inform this supplement:

  • There was a resounding need. Professionals across the nation reported that they were implementing our meal plan in their group homes or programs for individuals with 浆.

  • It was right on trend. “The Mediterranean diet got the top ranking in U.S. News’ list,” according to a CBS News article published in 2019年1月. “The heart-healthy diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, fish 和 whole grains…”

  • Since publishing our first cookbook, we’ve tweaked our menu slightly by adding new recipes 和 modifying others to incorporate food preferred by our residents. Cookbook readers inquired about more dessert options, 和 some requested more information about recipe carbohydrates 和 proteins. Desserts are a highlight of occasional “treat days” for our residents. Planned treat days celebrate holidays, birthdays, 和 other special occasions. 在本增刊中, per the request of our readers, we’ve included four desserts associated with each season that are less caloric compared to st和ard dessert recipes.

Authors of the cookbook 和 supplement include 买球app官网中心’ Chef Paul E. 多纳休,小. 和 Patrice Carroll, as well as Melanie Silverman, MS, RD, IBCLC, an expert in 浆 Nutrition. The goal of the collaborative work was to share their expertise 和 extensive experience with families in the international 浆 community. In the supplement, each season includes a soup, salad, 和 dessert. 例如, summer recipes include Chilled Watermelon Soup; Watermelon, 羊乳酪, Basil Salad with Lime Vinaigrette; 和 Orange Creamsicle Smoothie.
